What The Health, a documentary which is having us rethink our way of eating

With a New Year always come new resolutions and one we bet a lot of people have made is to be more careful and aware with what they are eating. That is definitely something I’m trying to work on. You too? Then, you might be interested having a look at this investigative documentary exploring the correlation between food, health and how it is all influenced by business.
One very interesting thing I’ve learned from it? Genetic diseases are not a fatality because they are not only due to genetic but also to our lifestyle which we tend to reproduce from one generation to another. If people in your family tend to develop a special condition which is for example link to over consumption of fat, you’ll be more likely to develop it too not because of genetics but because you are reproducing the diet of those people you’ve been growing-up with. Which I found pretty hopeful!

International Crepes Day is just around the corner (any excuse to treat ourselves to something yummy)

Yes you read it well: International Crepes Day (also called La Chandeleur in French). And no I’m not making this one up, it’s really a thing and happening every year on February 2 (being associated with the Catholic feast of the Candlemas). Perfect excuse to stuff yourself with crepes (not that we ever need an excuse).

Wondering where to eat proper French crepes and galettes, like the one we eat in Brittany (Western France) where there are originated from? Look no further than La Creperie ! Homemade crepes and buckwheat galettes, yummy ingredients imported from France and a glass of sweet cider to wash it off … Well you know what? I might not even wait for February 2 and treat myself to some crepes before that.

Cocktails with a healthy dash

Haven’t you heard? This year, Dry January is definitely a thing. As for me, I love a nice cocktail on a weekend night and doesn’t quite feel like enjoying a nice lunch at the restaurant without a glass of wine. No Dry January for me. But that doesn’t mean I am not falling for the growing trend of low alcohol and less sugar … am definitely in for a healthy twist on my cocktail!

Where to find such delights – mocktails & cocktails?
At Sugar (Bar. Deck. Lounge.), the rooftop bar at EAST, debuting the use of Seedlip, the world’s first non-alcoholic distilled spirits, and treating guest to a selection of sophisticated mocktails: Waking Cosmo, Seedlip Spritz, Garden Sour, 108 Fizz, Seedlip & Tonic, and Berry Grove.
