We can’t ignore it anymore, it’s today our duty to change our rather selfish habits and try and adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. I ain’t saying it is easy and am definitely not saying I am perfect because I’m absolutely not! But what am saying is that they are a few things that we can all easily implement an will definitely make a difference.

CLEAN YOUR MAILBOX
Ever heard about digital pollution?
Did you know that 10g of CO2 are generated every year for each and every email you stock?
Think about it, how many emails do you receive a day? A week? A year? How many of them are relevant to you? How many of them do you truly need to keep? Because servers are necessary to stock those emails and those servers are pretty greedy when it comes to energy consumption. That email which you have opened once and will never open again, does it really need to stay in your inbox? This newsletter which you receive every week but never open because you don’t even know how you get registered to it, wouldn’t it be easier to just unsubscribe from it (not judging you, am being lazy too and very rarely clicking on the unsubscribe button)? Emptying your inbox is just an easy way of reducing C02 emissions.
And if you need an extra help to clean your saturated inbox, you might wanna try Cleanfox, a free tool which help you clean it all in just a few clicks.
PREFER LOW TEMPERATURE WASH
What temperature do you usually use when washing your clothes? 40 degrees? Can you imagine that if everyone in France was to lower this temperature by only 3 degrees, it would be equivalent to eliminate the C02 emissions of 23,000 cars! Think about it … and let’s start washing our clothes at 30 degrees, shall we?
Not only will it help save electricity and generate less C02 but it will also help preserve your clothes and have them last longer which also means you don’t have to replace them as often (knowing that the fashion industry is the second largest polluting industry in the world).
BRING YOUR OWN BAG
Always having a tote bag with you is just such an easy step on reducing plastic waste!
BRING YOUR OWN CUP
Disposable coffee and tea cups are not recyclable! It’s true that they are largely made of paper but the problem is they are also lined with plastic polyethylene tightly bonded to the paper making sure the cups are waterproof and can contain liquid which makes them basically impossible to recycle.
Bringing your own cup is again such an easy step in reducing waste and plastic pollution.
PEE IN YOUR SHOWER
I know, that’s not the most glamourous tips but think about it: an average flush of toilets uses 13L of water. So if you save 1 flush a day that would be: 90L saved a week, 390L saved a month, 4576L saved a year!
Think about it next time you wake up in the morning and head off to the toilet before taking your shower.
