Ammo: Lunch in a bunker in Admiralty

November 6th 2012

We don’t turn anything down here at Hong Kong Madame, which is why our latest little find is down in an old military base! Don’t worry, it’s not the mess! On the contrary, AMMO Café is a really classy affair which totally charmed us. Nestled under Pacific Place, the restaurant at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center is a little haven of peace in the city, and surrounded by greenery, lights and decorated in a really unique way (stunning chandeliers and spiral staircases suspended from the ceiling!) Food wise, the chef has created a number of different “fusion” dishes which bring together western cuisine with an Asian finish. We recommend trying the crab salad as a starter, then for mains, one of us went for the duck and burrata cheese Ravioli glazed with orange and the other took fettucini in an ossobuco ragout. Both dishes were really tasty.  Of course we couldn’t resist dessert- and we were right not to! The pan fried brioche was absolutely delicious! After all that food, why not take a little time to explore the exhibition at the Asia Society HK Center? Right now they have a collection of Indian jewellery on display- it’s a little treat that won’t damage your wallet!
