Here is a new address to test, full of French flavours dear Readers! As soon as we heard that there was a new French restaurant in Sheung Wan, we hurried over. The restaurant isn’t that easy to spot, but that’s all for the better for it means it’s a lot calmer. Situated on the third floor of the Pemberton, on Bonham Strand, La Parole is orchestrated by Eric Taluy, a chef that trained in Michelin star restaurants in France. The result: our taste buds were ecstatic at each bite. We tried out the set lunch. As a starter: a creamy beetroot soup for one of us and melon with parma ham for the other. The soup came out as the winner, it was just perfect! Then it was over to the XXL vegetable salad for one and beef “à la plancha” with succulent vegetables for the other. This time round, the meat won the trophy. And finally, for the dessert, a red berry tiramisu. Marvelous! We would have loved to have had another one each! For dinner, La Parole also has three set menus, 3 dishes for HKD380, 4 dishes for HKD428 and finally, the Discovery Menu « Laissez-vous faire, je m’occupe de tout » (which means "leave it to me I’ll take care of the ordering”) that includes 6 dishes and a flute of champagne for HKD600. Last but not least, the restaurant has a community angle. Part of the proceeds are donated to Benjis’ Centre, a charity that helps children with speech and communication difficulties from low-income families. Their word of honor has been given!
