Looking for a good wine option to pair with junk food?

So, tonight your desire to cook is… close to zero. Fortunately, you have the junk food option around the corner, but this time, you don’t want another organic juice! And you are starting to get excited thinking about the World Cup and the many evenings planned watching the games while enjoying pizza with your friends. But, you don’t want to drink beer again…
Obviously pizza, kebab or hamburgers are not the dishes we typically associate with refined food and gastronomy… yet, why wouldn’t they deserve some good wines to be paired with?
Craving nuggets? Several options: a light crispy white such as an Italian Pinot Blanc, a Burgundy Aligoté or a Sauvignon Blanc from Graves. Prefer red? Go for a Cabernet Franc from Anjou-Villages or a Syrah from Ardèche.
Eating pizza? The easiest and classic match is a rosé. In this case, get a Provence, fleshy and round.
Kebab ? A young Bordeaux Supérieur, or a Côtes du Rhône. If the meat is greasy, opt for a bold spicy wine like Bandol, Gigondas, Madiran or Cahors.
Finally the burger! Instead of a coke or another soda, try playing it Road 66 style with a Californian or Chilean red. However, should you rather play in the French fields, a glass of Crozes-Hermitage, Pic Saint-Loup, Médoc or Graves will do the trick!
