MAK MAK: Latest Thai Spot at the Landmark

February 19th 2016

A new Thai restaurant has opened in Central? It is great timing too. I really need to forget the cold weather which hits us at the start of the year and tuck into some wonderful spicy soup and flavorful dishes.

And this one can be found on the second floor of the Landmark, but getting into the restaurant may take some guess work, since the entrance is veiled by fake shelves and will not open unless you press the bell. Once inside, you are taken back into time with retro style decor, which includes vintage boxes, posters, colored mosaics, and the beautiful neon-colored rose hanging from the ceiling.
A graceful waiter explained that the food comes from central Thailand, in other words, classical Thai cuisine, including the well-known Tom Yum Soup made to perfection, chicken cooked in banana leaves succulent with every bite. Not many surprises there, but well made and beautifully served. A gold star to the vegetarian menu which offers something for all those lovers of vegetables, including the Indian couple who were sitting next to me !
