Following the success of Three on the Bund and Mercato in Shanghai, Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten has launched Mercato in California Tower, Lan Kwai Fong. An Italian style restaurant, including a terrace which offers a family style menu in a designed industrial atmosphere.

Let’s start with a delicious spicy tuna tartar with black olives, cucumber, avocado and mint (HK$168), so fresh!

The house made ricotta (HK$138) is so good – served with strawberry, the mix made me feel like a dessert as the sweetness is strong. I have finished the ricotta itself with the grilled bread! But if you like sweet-salty contrasts, you would love it even more!

Italian food means pizza (damn yeah!) and I have then ordered the black truffle cheeses and farm egg pizza (HK$278) – if you a truffle lover, go for it as it is super intense!

As a main, my culinary journey continues with a porcini crusted salmon with warm leek vinaigrette and herbs (HK$198) that I have loved. With sides including yummy olive oil whipped potatoes with parmesan  and oven roasted asparagus, olive oil and parmesan - again but I never get enough! – (HK$58 each side).

All along the dinner, they are serving bread, focaccia and grissinis… Can I have more? :)

Finally, and even if I was full, I could not resist to the dessert menu and have ended the dinner with a slice of yummy dark chocolate cake and passion fruit sorbet (HK$86).

In a nutshell, I have loved the atmosphere and the attentive staff that is doing its best to make you spend a fabulous time. The chef Anthony Burd has even stopped to my table to say for a quick talk, icing on the cake!

The menu is also including pastas and other tasty mains that I can’t wait to try so I will definitely go back.
Noted that they also have lunch and brunch sets that are both very attractive!
