Hong Kong is definitely a great place for food lovers. I mean, you can find pretty much any cuisine here. So easy to travel from France to Sichuan to Mexico or Greece. But, don’t you sometimes feel like what you are eating lacks authenticity?
Being French, I can definitely tell you that not all French restaurants in HK can claim French authenticity. But how would you know that if you have never eaten a proper French meal? And who can better cook a French meal than a French host?
This is the all idea of PlateCulture – connect people who love cooking & hosting dinners with people who love eating authentic home cooked meals. Much more than just a dining out experience, PlateCulture is about discovering new cultures and new people.
How does it work? Easy peasy!
You love meeting people, you love cooking and you definitely feel like welcoming guests in your kitchen? Register on the website, the team will come to your place, enjoy the full experience and appoint you (or not) as one of PlateCulture’s host.
You are more on the tasting side, always eager to discover new cuisine but kinda tired of the very unauthentic Hongkongese restaurant scene? Be their guest and book your ticket for a new adventure.
For my first experience I could have go to Mexico, Malaysia, Lithuania or even South Africa. I have chosen Turkey!
Ending up in Papa Theo-man’s Turkish kitchen and feasting to homemade Turkish bread, Shepperd's Salad with Pomegranate Sauce and Fried Halloumi Cheese, homemade Hummus (so yummy), incredibly flavorful 12 hours marinated roasted fresh chicken and very pornfood signature meatballs. All fresh from the day and cooked with love by Theoman himself! A real taste of homemade food, almost felt like spending one night in Turkey!
And you know that feeling when you are enjoying your dinner but the staff restaurants is almost kicking you out because they are about to close (I am sorry, I am French but it’s crazy how early restaurants are closing in this city) or because they need the table for another group? I absolutely hate it! Well, I spent 4h in Theoman kitchen, eating and eating and eating again and discussing pretty much everything from travel to food to politic and never felt I was not wanted anymore.
My little tip? Book with a group of friend. 4 seems like a good number to me, enough for you to enjoy the experience with people you already know but not enough to prevent you from mingling with the other guests.
Common, talk to you later guys, I am gonna scroll down on PlateCulture website and plan my next foodie trip!
