Scarlett – Café & Wine bar

December 27th 2016

TST is not usually my go to place for a French feast! I must confess that I tend to have my habits in my Sheung Wan neighborhood. But hey, just like a good Parisian sometimes have to cross the Seine for an epic croissant, I thought it was about time that I cross the Victoria harbor and check what the other side has to offer.  Guess what? This little trip was definitely worth it!

Scarlett is a welcoming Café & Wine bar, widely open on a little quiet street of TST. Bottles of wine all over the walls and yummy dishes propositions on the blackboard, I gotta feeling I am going to love this place. Beef Tartar, Duck Leg Confit, Pork Rillettes, “Poularde” Baby Chicken, Bone Marrow … all my fav are on the menu. Love it! But today, I am here for tapas and wine. I don’t know about you but I often get frustrated with tapas … I hate it when you order something to share and you end up with two ridiculous slice of ham each. Well, Scarlett is not that kind of stingy place. The tapas platter is actually quite epic! 1 meter of charcuterie, pickles and cheese … Brilliant! I also tried and approved the onion rings (not greasy at all, exactly the way I like them), the salmon skewers and the fish carpaccio. And because I am French and I cannot help it, I had a big crush on the snails, such a tasty dish! I absolutely loved the idea of removing the original shell and replace it by a crispy bread one, crispy and tender at the same time … so yummy.
The cherry on the cake? The super reasonable prices! Tastier food for a cheaper price, I am definitely thinking on crossing the harbor more often!

Cool vibes, fair prices, nice staff and yummy food … What else?

Pssst: if you are planning on throwing a little party, you should definitely consider Scarlett ! The upstairs floor is easily privatizable and who would say no to a party with wine and French tapas?
