Struggling with sleep? Try The Mandarin Spa’s new deep sleep treatment

We tested their Circadian Syncing Deep Sleep treatment, and were snoring in minutes

I’ve always considered myself lucky when it comes to sleep. Falling asleep within minutes, snoozing soundly for eight hours, sneaking in the occasional nap, and brushing off jet lag - it’s all come naturally to me.

Well, that was until recently. Between the demands of being a preschooler mum and the not-so-subtle reminder that I’m turning 35 soon, my sleep routine has taken a hit. These days, I’m wide awake by 4:30 a.m., feeling stressed, drained, and counting down to the weekend so I can crash for a much-needed two-hour nap with my daughter. (Thank goodness she still loves her long afternoon snoozes. I’m dreading the day those end!) Is it just the seasonal change or year-end stress, or is this my new normal?

So, when The Mandarin Spa Hong Kong invited me to try their new deep sleep treatment, I jumped at the chance to reset my restless nights.

The Treatment: OSKIA’s Circadian Syncing Deep Sleep

An extension of the spa’s collaboration with British skincare brand OSKIA, this new treatment celebrates the launch of OSKIA’s Midnight Elixir. With 30 active ingredients, the elixir promises to replicate the restorative effects of a good night’s sleep - something my puffy eyes and dull skin could certainly use. I had the chance to preview it with OSKIA founder Georgie Cleeve, a former food journalist turned skincare expert. Her approach blends nutrition with skincare, making her products as nourishing for the skin as they are results-driven. (The Midnight Elixir smells divine - I’m currently testing it and will share more soon!).

Back at the spa, you can choose from the 90-minute Circadian Syncing Deep Sleep treatment (HKD 2,300 on weekdays; HKD 2,500 on weekends) or the OSKIA Bespoke Warm Oil Body Massage, available in 60 or 90 minutes (from HKD 1,800). Both treatments offer an optional 30-minute Midnight Elixir facial for an additional HKD 1,200.

I opted for the Circadian Syncing Deep Sleep treatment on a Monday evening, hoping it would help me unwind and set the stage for a night of uninterrupted sleep.

The Spa Experience

Relaxation begins the moment you step onto the 24th floor of The Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. The serene, Oriental-inspired ambiance immediately calms the senses as you sip on a soothing cup of tea before being guided to the changing rooms.

Pro tip: Arrive early to enjoy the spa’s facilities, which include a tepidarium (think Roman-style warm stone benches), a hammam, a sauna, and experiential showers.
When it’s time for your treatment, you’ll enter a dimly lit room where the glow of candles sets a tranquil tone. As I lay face down on the treatment bed, my therapist worked lavender- and frankincense-scented oil into my skin with gentle, rhythmic movements. The blend of oils and pressure was so relaxing that I drifted off into a peaceful slumber before the therapist even asked me to turn onto my back.

The treatment incorporates magnesium and melatonin-infused mists, oils, and balms that not only promote relaxation but also leave your skin glowing. By the end, I felt deeply rested, my breath had slowed, and my body was completely relaxed.

After the Treatment

Take your time post-treatment - don’t rush out the door. The spa’s relaxation lounge offers teas and light snacks to help you extend the bliss a little longer. Once you’re ready, head home and dive straight into bed.
And how did I sleep? Like a baby. I was fast asleep by 9 p.m. and woke up feeling genuinely refreshed.
