Three urban spas for a 60-minute break in Central

Cooler days are upon us. And whenever temperatures hit below 20 degrees here in Hong Kong, I feel like enjoying my share of Hygge – a Danish word describing a cosy mood and a feeling of being warm and well. There are many ways for one to fin coziness, be it with a hot cup of tea and a good book, an afternoon tea at home with your closest friends or a long warm shower but for me there’s nothing quite like a quick spa break to make me feel cosy and well. I’ve tried the following three urban spas around Central which are perfect if you don’t have much time and are just willing to treat yourself to a quick 60-minute break during, or after, a long day.

Iyara Day Spa Central

A well-known sight among the busy people traveling on the Central-Mid-Levels escalator every day, Iyara Day Spa Central - located on Cochrane Street, has much more to offer than the manicure and pedicure seats you can spot through its floor-to-ceiling windows. The spa has recently opened a new vintage Hong Kong-inspired spa lounge hidden on the second floor of its Cochrane Street branch. Cue chinoiserie wallpaper, wooden carved wall panels, lampions, ink paintings and more. Immerse yourself in old world charm as you step away from your routine to enjoy a moment of peace.

Hong Kong Madame recommends: the ear candling with face and neck lymphatic massage (HKD 850 for 45 minutes). A gentle and non-invasive treatment dating back to 2,500 B.C., ear candling has been used by many ancient cultures to help fluid the ears. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience which is here elevated with the addition of a face and neck lymphatic massage to release tensions and reduce fatigue.

The Chaless

Opened by wellness expert Anne Flores in December 2021, The Chaless is a little haven of peace located on Aberdeen Street. With an interior décor inspired by the warmth and freshness of chalets in the mountainous regions of Europe and Japan, it provides a nurturing environment. You’ll feel relaxed and at ease from the very minute you’ll pushed the door.

Hong Kong Madame recommends: The Chaless x Minimis by Cabanee Organics Ultimate Hydrating Skin Programme (HKD 1,375 for a 45-minute facial treatment and a set of two full size Minimis products / HKD 1,575 for a 45-minute facial treatment and a travel set range of four Minimis products). Featuring the clean skincare products from Minimis by Cabanee Organics it starts by a skin consultation followed by a treatment and massage that will leave your skin hydrated, moisturized and nourished. It’s a go to if you’re looking for a quick and efficient glow up.

The Right Spot

There’s nothing quite like a foot massage to ease tensions and a great foot massage is exactly what you’ll enjoy at the Right Spot. What’s more, it’s performed in a beautiful art gallery-like interior.

Hong Kong Madame recommends
: the 50-minute reflexology treatment (HKD 360) offered exclusively on weekdays, between 12 pm and 2 pm.
