Veggie SF: In the mood for fun veggies!

March 8th 2011

Eating vegetables is healthy so there’s no time to waste before you try out Veggie SF. It’s a restaurant that only serves vegetarian dishes. And what’s more, in a rather surprising place! After a short lift ride up, you’ll be teleported to San Francisco in the 1950s. Magic! A US flag, old fashioned wireless devices and ice skates, American license plates, old postcards. Everything is authentic! Even the jewelry that’s for sale in the showcase at the entrance. We really are fans of this place! Now it’s time to talk food. Just like the venue, the recipes were unprecedented and surprising – a true success. We went for the set lunch. All of the menus start with a soup. Ours was a taro (root vegetable) based soup. The purple coloring could have put us off but that would have been going against our pioneering spirits! We tasted it and loved it! Yes, really! After that we couldn’t resist the “I am Fabulous” burger made out of beetroot, served with a salad and large homemade chips. Utterly delicious! The “Sashimi 101” was quite good as well. Rice dressed with soy sauce and mayonnaise, vegetables, avocado and tempura. To finish on a sweet note we tasted the chocolate cake. A perfect combination with the coffee from the set lunch! After 6pm, Veggie SF serves tapas to be shared with friends. Curry balls, satay skewers, mini pizzas and many more vegetarian surprises. It will make you feel like doing a vegetable detox!
