Catch Me

I wouldn’t exactly call myself a fitness addict but being a foodie I have no choice, I must workout ... I am that kind of girl who sweat so that I can eat whatever I want. The only way to keep me going and stick to a sporty routine is for me to have fun with it. Luckily, I have recently found the workout that really fits my needs (see here). I have also decided to offer myself a proper fitness closet. I mean, any excuse is good to buy more clothes right? And it’s amazing how motivating it is to wear sexy and beautiful workout gears rather than an old legging that has lost its shape over the years. I am still a rookie when it comes to athleisure but I like to explore and try and discover new brands. I mean there is nothing wrong with Nike, Lululemon, Adidas and the other big brands but just like I do w/ my other clothes, I like to mix and match big brands with small designers. My latest crush active wear? Catch Me

I am addicted to my Muse top. Wearing it at the gym but also outside, love it! Need to refrain myself from buying everything on the website: The Black Pockets legging, The Muse top in Navy (I currently have the Dark Grey one), The Enticer sport bra and The Darer top … OMG there is not a single piece that I don’t want!

I just sat a few minutes w/ founder Cassy (Cassandre Choi) to discuss entrepreneurship, women empowerment and better understand who she is and why she decides to start her own athleisure brand in Hong Kong.

  • Tell me a little bit more about your background. Why did you decide to launch your own athleisure brand in HK and how did you do?

Equities trader by day, Entrepreneur by night, my lifestyle is definitely fast paced and I am really aware of the importance of keeping a balance lifestyle and de-stress. I believe in fitness to empower ourselves and empower others and I believe that being able to fit a workout in our day is vital. For example, I’ve picked up running 2 years ago and this has since been my place for therapy/stress release. I have even done a couple of half marathons since then.
But I also know what it is like to be overwhelmed by work. Every minutes count and that’s why I have created a wardrobe that can easily take the busy woman from her workday to her workout, all in one outfit.

I started by researching the landscape of the athleisure and fitness space and sketching up some designs. Then I started sourcing the fabric. I believe that quality is key to comfort so it was important that I find the right fabric. Most of what we use is from Korea. I was lucky to find a manufacturer that I love working with very quickly. Then it just got going from there …

  • How would you define your brand Catch Me?

Catch Me is designed for the woman-on-the-go who cherishes multi-functionality without compromising on quality. Exercising isn’t all about performance and shaving that extra minute off your 10k run – it’s a therapeutic journey as well. We hope to bring out this concept and empower women to slip in a workout whenever they can.

  • What a typical day in your life look like those days?

I have a full time job as an equities trader so I start my day very early. I usually wake up before 5:30am and am on the desk before 6:15am. The next 12 hours goes by very quickly. Although I’ve been doing this for more than 7 years, trading live still keeps me on my toes. I usually get off work between 5:30 and 6pm. I like to take a short stroll to walk off the stress from the workday. Then I usually either have Catch Me meetings lined up or I go training. I’m currently training for a triathlon, so I’m hitting the pool at least twice a week in addition to some running. Dinners are usually light on weekdays. Some days I eat with friends, others I grab a salad from Mana or Nood. I spend some time at night to work on Catch Me and try to spare at least 15-20min to read a book or magazine before I sleep at around 11:30. Weekends are dedicated mostly to working on Catch Me and family time. I also take the bike out to Sunny bay at least once to train.
