Celebrating Romance

Celebrating Romance
par Aude

If I say romantic escape, what do you say? Bali, the Seychelles, the Fiji, the Bahamas … Cliché? Yes. Heavenly? Definitely. Romantic? For sure.
Well, if you tell me romantic escape, I am telling you Wan Chai. Yes Wan Chai. I mean not just any part of it of course. I am thinking romance at the Grand Hyatt. Cliché? Yes. Heavenly? Definitely. Romantic? For sure.

Who said romance cannot happen next door? I am taking you with me for 24H of romance (baby please don’t be jealous!).

Friday – 12 pm: checking-in at Grand Club Lounge and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and crazy view while sipping a glass of champagne. It is never too early for Champagne, right?

Celebrating Romance
Friday – 12.30 pm: entering my executive room and being amazed by the crazy view over Victoria Harbour. That bed looks so comfy! Oh and look at that bathtub, already picturing myself enjoying a bubble bath with a glass of Champagne (yes, let me warn you, Champagne is my moto for the next 24H) and the beautiful view.
Still discovering each and every little details of my room and here comes a very romantic trolley: a bottle of Champagne, strawberries, chocolate and an indecently creamy celebration cake. Ain’t no proper celebration without romantic treats, right?

Friday – 2 pm: finally making my way out of the room and ready to spend the afternoon by the pool. This 50-metre outdoor pool is a real oasis, far away from the hustle and bustle. I definitely feel like I have escaping far far away from Hong Kong and my daily routine.
After two hours of napping and tanning, it is time to hit the gym. I may have tried the chocolates that are in the room already and because I definitely do not want to restrict myself at dinner tonight, I need to sweat out a few calories. Cardio, weight-training … this gym have absolutely all the machines and equipment needed.

Friday – 5pm: bubbles everywhere, TV on, bubbling champagne … if someone’s looking for me, I am enjoying a very relaxing time in my bath. Please do not disturb. Except you darling, feel free to join, it is a romantic escape after all.

Friday – 6 pm: Isn’t it time for some cocktails? Good news is, it’s evening cocktails time at Grand Club Lounge (5.30 to 7.30). What better way to start the evening than cocktails and small bites with a crazy view and my love?

Friday – 7.30 pm: Heading off to the Grand Hyatt Steakhouse. Yes, because our Celebrating Romance package includes HKD 2,500 spending credit per stay to be used on food and beverage or Plateau Spa treatment and you know me by now, I am a true foodie so decided to go for food (however, I have enjoyed a pampering session at Plateau Spa few months ago and it was heavenly).
Salad bar, Maryland Crab Cake, M7 tomahawk Ribeye chop 1075g, duck fat potatoe fries, green asparagus and chocolate mud pie (also known as The Monster) … oh my god that’s a feast! This ribeye is a killer!

Friday – 9.30 pm
: I have no idea how we did that but we managed to finish that insanely huge and perfectly cooked (medium rare) ribeye beast! What about a last glass of wine to ease our digestion. Off we go, to the Grand Club Lounge for a last drink.

Friday – 11 pm: Ok too much romance, too much chill by the pool, too much food … I am exhausted (I know, though life). Time to sleep and see you tomorrow.

Saturday – 10 am: That’s what I call a lazy morning! I usually never sleep that late but that bed is just so comfy. I could easily spend another 3 hours there, but breakfast is calling. But first thing before heading up to the Grand Club Lounge for complimentary breakfast is opening the curtains and enjoying, once again, that view.

Saturday - 10.30 am: breakfast, breakfast, breakfast

Saturday – 11 am: ok I have 1h before check-out, a remaining slice of cake (I know, I just had breakfast but on weekend calories do not count) and a hot bubbly bath waiting for me. One more hour out away from real life and god that’s good.

Saturday – 12 pm: can we go back to yesterday same time? Do I really have to leave that room? Darling, can we stay just a few more hours? Ok, ok here are the keys … but not ready to leave Grand Hyatt Hong Kong then, let’s spend a few hours at the pool.

Those 24H were a real break in heaven!
