Entrusting them with a precious wedding gown, they delivered care, professionalism, and that extra touch that makes a difference.

After my wedding in February, I faced a small post-wedding depression (it’s incredible how two years of planning culminated in just 48 hours that flew by). Amidst reminiscing about the big day, I realised my, pearl-embroidered wedding gown deserved some tender care. While I’m not planning to wear it again soon, I wanted to preserve it in pristine condition, perhaps for my daughter’s future wedding (even if fashion will change in 30 years).

Given the delicate nature of my dress, I couldn't entrust it to just any dry cleaner—not even my dear Alice, who has cared for our non-washing-machine-friendly clothes for the past nine years. So, I turned to Instagram, and you guys, for recommendations and one name stood out: Jeeves of Belgravia.

But before sharing my experience with them – and it was a great one, here’s a little background. Founded in 1969 in London, Jeeves quickly earned a reputation for unparalleled service and quality among London’s elite, including the Royal Family. Their success stems from a unique blend of traditional garment care, advanced technology, and meticulous attention to detail. In 1994, Ms. Filomena Merszei brought Jeeves to Hong Kong, where it became the go-to for elegant individuals and corporate clients. Today, her son Ryan Merszei leads the second-generation family-run team, expanding their services to include leather and handbag restoration and home textile cleaning while striving to operate in the must eco-friendly way possible.

Ryan invited me to their cleaning centre in Aberdeen, and as someone who loves behind-the-scenes action, I couldn’t say no. I was impressed by their manual processes, with experienced staff (some with over 25 years at Jeeves) ensuring quality and bespoke service at every step. I saw precious evening gowns, luxury bags, and custom-made suits, all entrusted to Jeeves, reaffirming I was in the right place.

Well, now obviously this little tour was a nice little extra perk that I was lucky to enjoy. For those who follow the traditional route, here’s how the process works.

First, I suggest you start by exploring their website where you’ll find a list of their most popular services. Alternatively, you can call them, or WhatsApp their concierge team for an individual quotation. For collection of our item, you can again go through their website, or call/WhatsApp them directly. And now that your items are with them what? Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy. All you have to do is relax and let the professionals do their work.

When your items reach their centre, they perform a thorough inspection to identify the fabric, composition, and any stains or areas needing special attention. This helps ensure optimum care and determines whether your garment needs hand-cleaning, laundering, or dry cleaning. Before cleaning, stains and marks are carefully treated. Final touches such as hand pressing and minor repairs are also part of the process to ensure your piece looks its best before it’s carefully packaged and returned to you.

Was I slightly stressed before they started cleaning my dress? Yes. Most of this stress vanished when I received a detailed WhatsApp message assessing the state of my dress—thread pulls, missing beads, stains inside and outside, and even seam slippage damage were mentioned, proving they had examined the garment in great detail. From there, it was smooth sailing until my precious dress was returned to me.

Would I use their services again? Absolutely, 100% yes. While I won’t have another wedding dress to clean anytime soon, I do have handbags in need of deep cleaning and colour restoration, as well as vintage designer pieces that haven’t been shown any love in ages.
