ARTLANE – an arty urban project

October 26th 2018

Many big cities in the world have their arty district: New York, London, Seoul, Rio, Miami … and Hong Kong is today joining the list with the launch of ARTLANE, an exciting arty urban project initiated by Henderson Land (property development and land management).

Wondering where to head to for discovering the murals which have been completed already and makes the first largest mural village in Hong Kong (not to mention a very Instagram friendly neighbourhood)? Well good news is you won’t even have to leave the island! ARTLANE is located in the western district between Queen’s Road West and Des Voeux Road West (SYP), an area where you can find traces of Hong Kong’s history and culture everywhere: Chinese temples standing next to Western-style churches, dried seafood shops, local eateries running alongside hipster coffee shops, at galleries ...

Ready for the tour?

ARTLANE – an arty urban project
Kicking off at the junction of Des Voeux Road West and Ki Ling Lane with this colourful mural by Hong Kong based artist and illustrator Neil Wang: Urban Jungle.

Second stop is a mural by Finnish artist Riitta Kuisma: Transformation. Actually three murals to be more accurate, depicting the urban development process.

ARTLANE – an arty urban project
Continuing this very colourful and pop tour in the kaleidoscopic Mural Tunnel by Pantone C. featuring music and dances motifs.

Then on to a very poetic Little girl watering plants mural by artist Zue Chan.

Our walk is then taking us to the Rainbow Staircase by the duet of artists Blessy Man and Henry Lau.

I know, hypnotizing but don’t forget to also look at the wall, turned into an Animal Town by the two artists.

Opposite to that is the creation by local artist Noble Wong: Joy of Music and Art.

Further along Shek Chan Lane, at the junction with Chung Ching Street, is another contribution from artist Zue Chan: the Music Town covering the stairs and both sides of the wall and inspired by Vienna.

Walk pass the Music Town and meet the Classic Hollywood Icons (Marilyn Monroe and Shirley Temple) painted by one of my fav artist in town Elsa Jeandedieu (remember, I was talking with her on this article and told you you should expect seeing more and more of her murals in the next coming months).

Quite a cool walk right? And I am pretty sure you got some super per nice snaps!
