KNEAD: make your own salads and sandwiches
By Delphine

Breaking News for you, foodies out there: a new sandwich/salad bar has just opened its doors in the heart of Sheung Wan. Yet another one? I promise, this isn’t a waste of your time…, Ok, right, now what if I told you that you could make your own, according to your own tastes and needs, and desires, with fresh products? You would start to find the idea of a new salad bar not so bad after all, right?

We were absolutely fed up of the interminable tuna in its sea of mayo, and the soft baguette with butter and ham, or the triangles filled with eggs and chicken without a single ounce of vegetables. Today, we want fresh products! And we are heading straight to Knead! For me, I would have the rye bread garnished with smoked salmon, stir-fried onions and grilled aubergines, with fresh sour cream please. My colleague would effortlessly chomp through a bacon/avocado/red beet ciabatta. As for my friend, she would opt for a salad, but still can’t decide between rocket or spinach as a base.

Here, you can choose everything from the type of bread, seasoning, sauce and ingredients. We loved trying it out and ventured there the next day to try another combo. The cute bouquet of flowers on each table, and the conviviality of the young Australian and Dutch founders made us want to stay. We will definitely be heading back tonight to take away and surprise our gang at home (including gluten-free for those allergic to wheat).

Knead brings nothing but freshness and happiness!
