After 1 year, Rhoda is no longer the new kiddo on the block but definitely still a fav! And you know what I like sometimes? Treating myself to a nice lunch in a fancy and or trendy restaurant. Ok, I know I can be a little excessive when it comes to food but what is the point of treating yourself to tasty dinners if you are eating shitty things for lunch?
But lunch menu in a restaurant that you love for dinner can be tricky. It's either great value for money or disappointing because you don't recognise the subtil tastes and yummy dishes that you like when coming at night.
Rhoda is not the disappointing kind. Definitely not. Just because it is lunch and the price is lower does not mean quality should be different. And it is definitely not Chef Nate Green's philosophy.
Just like the rest of the menu, the weekday lunch menu changes on a regular basis (every week, sometimes it lasts a little longer and sometimes a little shorter) and is based on homemade recipes, fresh ingredients and minimum waste. My pick last week? The winner ox heart tartare w/ egg yolk purée as a starter and the super yummy fish brandade as a main. Just one bite and you immediately understand what they mean about serving a "down-to-earth" menu: simple, classic but so yummy (still dreaming of that so comforting and perfectly seasoned brandade, I mean who knew that potato mash and cod could make such a flavourful dish?). Oh and I forgot to mention that it will only cost you HKD 128, or HKD 148 if you have a sweet tooth and wish to add a little dessert.
