You know me. Always eager to spend a good moment with friends and family and loving it even more when it includes food. I must confess, I got that thing with high tea in hotels … I don’t know, they got that special taste of small luxury moments.
But today, let’s forget our classics … no historic hotel (one day I will tell you more about my big crush on The Peninsula), not the usual mini sandwiches and scones either. Let’s head off to Hotel Icon in TST. I am always amazed by the beautiful lobby and the crazy vegetal wall but today we got no time to talk about it … My tea is waiting for me at Above & Beyond, on top floor.
First things when getting out of the elevator is whaou … look at that view! 360° view, the lounge is beautiful. Now, let’s get the real things started!
A Rose Jasmine Green Tea to "warm" me up on this gloomy day and here comes the tea set for two. Love the setting, so beautiful.
I told you before but do not expect any salmon or cucumber mini-sandwiches as your savoury treats. I absolutely loved the pork dumpling with shrimp and was nicely surprise by the crispy pumpkin ball and the sweet potato and truffle dumpling. But my feeling is: too much fried things. What I love with the classic sandwiches is that they are very fresh. It was nice trying something different but those savoury treats are kinda heavy for a tea set … I would have appreciate a better balance between steamed and fried treats.
The sweet treats are definitely more my cuppa tea. Oh god I love this mango jelly with lychee cream and green tea crumble! And the Mandarin orange mousse with chocolate tart … I also always love a touch of Yuzu in my lemon tart.
Oh and did you hear that? What? Nothing right … This place is so peaceful. Love it! Believe the tea-time lover that I am, afternoon teas in hotel can sometimes be crazy crowdy and noisy. As for me, I love my tea quiet and peaceful.
