WeBarre

If you ask my friends, they’ll tell you I have been slightly obsessed with barre in the past few months. Barre? Remember, I told you already about it almost 1 year ago! Barre is a unique workout bringing together some ballet techniques, a bit of yoga, some pilates fundamentals and strength training.

Must confess, first time I hear about it I was like “hum … no thanks!”. I used to be such a lazy person! Plus anything that says ballet makes me wanna run like very very far (I am just so not flexible and gracious …). But I gave it a go and actually liked so much that now, a year after my first trial, you’ll see me hitting the barre every day (yes yes every day). Any result? Of course! Wouldn’t be going there if there wasn’t any, let me tell you! First result which I am quite happy about is I lost 4kg since last October without doing any diet (but without either stuffing myself with chocolate of course). Then, my strength is just nothing compare to what it was before … I just feel so powerful. And last but not least, I can also feel a pretty deep impact on my mood and my mind. Really feel like I have found the workout that is right for me!

But enough speaking about me. You wanna give it a go too? I just tried the very cool and brand new WeBarre studio and thought you might like hearing about it.

Ok if you are just like me and ballet wanna make you run far away don’t freak out when entering the studio … it looks a lot like a dance studio but I swear you can definitely do barre even though you suck at ballet (I am the living proof of that).  Take a deep breather, it’s going to be ok. Plus that studio is pretty cool uh? I would call it a boutique gym studio because it’s quite small (which I love because that means less person in the class and therefore a more qualitative and more student focus practice), super stylish and conveniently located on Hollywood Road.

Let’s sweat some calories out, shall we?
I joined the WeBarre Fundamentals class with Hairin  (the beautiful one on the photo just above) and really much enjoyed it. Would be a lie to say that my coordination wasn’t challenge at some point but a little bit of challenge is always good. Even though the class was very different from the barre classes I usually take having previous experience definitely was helpful specially to maintain a good form but beginners do not worry, Hairin will always make sure you do things properly not to hurt yourself and she will help you and correct you when needed (a perk of small group classes). And don’t be fooled, just because it is not the WeBarre HIIT class doesn’t mean you won’t sweat … believe me you will! Your arms will burn, your tights will burn, your bootie will burn and your abs will burn … but if you are just like me you’ll pretty much enjoy it (or am I that weird?). Yes it’s hard but not just for you, for everyone else in the class even for Hairin who will always keep on encouraging you.

And now, shall WeBare?
