The team from La Cabane has opened few months ago a cool new concept in Sheung Wan. I have discovered it a bit late but trust me; it’s a must-try!
Located on Hollywood Road, you cannot miss it! Green wall from outside, warm and cozy decor inside, with copper tones and different blue colors, I love all the details and the atmosphere designed by Elsa Jean de Dieu.
Bayta means “house” in both Hebrew and Arabic – and you will find this mix of cultures into your plates. Pick eyes closed from the highly appealing menu created by the talented Pauline Steiner. She will give you the feeling of traveling with strong Mediterranean Sea inspirations. Bayta emphasizes sustainable and fresh ingredients to pair with the house selection of well-sourced organic wines.
Start with a mezze plate of delicious antipasti including hummus, eggplant caviar, feta and spinach puff pastry or vegetable samosas (130$ for a choice of 3 items). Try the delicious octopus with bulgur tabbouleh (120$) and the signature vegetable couscous – my favorite and most surprising dish - with beetroot merguez spice (140$).
Pauline loves vegetables, and she is very creative! Even if she is vegan, she cooks meat as well. The beef tenderloin is also super tasty, served with zucchini puree.
End on a sweet touch with the lemon tart and avocado ice cream (90$) or my crush hazelnut biscuit, ricotta & apricot mousse(90$).
Bayta describes itself as a place of pleasure and I agree – you will feel their passion of food and organic wines and you will have an amazing culinary journey!
