Because traveling isn’t really an option at the moment, I have rounded up the best restaurants for you to enjoy festive flavours from all around the world without leaving Hong Kong. Today’s round-up is taking us east, where the sun rises, in Japan.
 
 
 
Honjo

5 restaurants for a festive season infused with Japanese flavours
Opened a year or so ago, Honjo will be celebrating its second Christmas with specially curated brunch and dinner menus showcasing its signature modern and eclectic Japanese cuisine. Think kani salad of king and snow crab kohlrabi confit, Hamachi served with ikura, watermelon radish and ginger ponzu or wagyu tataki with chorizo oil on top of a premium sashimi selection and seasonal fresh oysters.
 
Festive brunch: on December 26, 26 and January 1, from 11 am to 4 pm. HKD 520 per person.
Christmas tasting dinner: on December 24 and 25, from 6 to 8 pm and from 8 pm. HKD 680 per person at 6pm and HKD 820 from 8 pm.
NYE tasting dinner: on December 31, from 6 to 8 pm and from 8pm. HKD 888 per person at 6 pm and HKD 1,180 from 8 pm.

Kyoto Joe

Newly revamped, Kyoto Joe invites you to a Japanese Christmas with festive menus showcasing jet-fresh sushi and sashimi along other tasty specialties such as Wagyu from the rotabayaki grill, sea eel tempura or spicy ramen.
 
Christmas dinner: December 24 and 25. HKD 780 per person (10% for bookings placed before December 13)
New Year’s Eve dinner: December 31. HKD 980 per person (10% for bookings placed before December 13)
 
Throughout the entire month of December, starting on Saturday 5, Kyoto Joe will be serving a festive weekend brunch featuring the best of Hokkaido seafood in a semi-buffet selection of sushis rolls, sashimi, robatayaki grill and fresh main dishes.
 
Hokkaido weekend festive brunch: on Dec 5-6/ 12-13 / 19-20 and 26-27. HKD 488 per adult and HKD 288 per child under 12 years old, HKD 158 for free-flow Prosecco and HKD 258 for Champagne (10% for bookings placed before December 13).

Specialising in Edomae sushi, with fish being marinated, sen-ryo has been a long favourite on the Hong Kong dining scene and is this year again warming up her heart during the colder months with an authentic Hokuriku, a region in Japan, seafood feast. Focusing on luxurious and noble catch such as Hokuriku buri, Fukui firefly squid or Toyama Bay glass shrimp the menu will be served through the month of November, December and January.

Not your traditional Japanese restaurant, TMK invites you to an electric holiday feast off the beaten path with their first-ever, and very punk, festive menus. TMK’s favourite handrolls will do the show alongside a sushi and sashimi selection and specials to share such as the chicken karaage or the wagyu tataki.
 
Festive brunch: on December 25, 26 and January 1, from 11 am to 4pm. HKD 348 per person.
Festive dinner: on December 24, 25 and 31, from 6 pm. HKD 420.

Zuma

A Hong Kong landmark when it comes to celebrate something over a festive meal, Zuma is elevating the yuletide season with a range of lavish festive dining offerings throughout December. During the celebratory-themed Christmas weekend brunch, little ones will be invited to visit Santa’s Grotto while their parents tuck into Japanese delicacies and a tantalizing Christmas-edition dessert platter that will include cinnamon fluffy donuts and Christmas fruit cake. The Christmas edition of Yashoku – Zuma’s famous night brunch – will see live DJ and performers entertained the guests while they indulge on the restaurant’s signature dishes and a free-flow Veuve Clicquot Champagne. And last but not least, Zuma will wave goodbye to 2020 with an extravagant countdown party.
 
Christmas weekend brunch: from December 25 until December 27, from 11 am. HKD 598 for food only, from HKD 988 with free-flow Champagne packages, HKD 350 for kids.
