Want a little bit of spice in your day? Then let’s head to Chilli Fagara and get the Spicy Passport!
But what on earth is the Spicy Passport? A food walk with 5 participating restaurants (*) in HK, from June 23 to July 7. The challenge? Order and finish the spiciest dish in each of the participating restaurants. You can win 1000HKD (**). Sensitive taste buds, keep it moving!
Let's come back to Chilli Fagara, a Michelin-recommended Szechuan restaurant which promises beautifully mastered dishes (and spicy is what they are). A quick glance at the menu is not enough to make a choice. You have to read the explanations, there are 3 kind of dishes: “ La” are super spicy, “ Ma” is full of flavors and those marked “ Tang” are not so spicy but worth the try. There is also a menu for vegetarians following the same La, Ma, Tang principle.
We began with cucumbers marinated in garlic, and the mushrooms La. It was spicy but manageable and beautifully done. Next, we had the sole fish, again from the La menu. It didn’t steal the show this one, covered in tea leaves and red peppers, it was tough to eat. But we came for that, didn’t we? The different sides were delightful, and all the dishes were plated in generous amounts.
We are really looking forward to returning with friends to try some of the other dishes including soups, Dim Sum, noodles.... We are wondering what the Szechuan version of those would taste like? To find out, make a reservation, quick!
(*) Participating restaurants: Chilli Fagara: Sichuan / Soi7 / Edition / Rummin’ Tings / Bindaas
(**) You take a Spicy Passport card (available at all participating restaurants) and you have to eat the spiciest dish at eat restaurant. Each dish will get you a stamp. Once you complete all five stamps and survive within the time period, just drop the card off at any restaurant. 5 winners will each get really great prizes from the restaurants (each winner gets the entire bundle):
Curry gift hamper + Homemade infused soju bottle + Sichuan artisanal chilli powder and XO sauce bottles hamper + $200 coupon to Rummin’ Tings + $200 coupon to Bindaas + $500 coupon for Foodpanda
