Combinations: Argo’s new cocktail menu celebrates layered elements of single ingredients
Words by Aude Camus

I recently found myself at Argo, Four Seasons Hong Kong's star-studded bar, ready to explore their newly launched cocktail menu, Combinations. As someone who doesn’t usually sip on cognac and has an irrational dislike for corn, I surprised myself by ordering the Tex-Mex Alexander. Yes, it’s got Hennessy VSOP and a generous dose of corn cream. But, true to form, Argo and Federico Balzarini worked their magic -  turns out, I loved it. The creamy texture balanced beautifully with the cognac, and I might just have to admit that corn isn’t the enemy after all!

What’s so refreshing about Argo is how, despite its accolades (Asia’s 50 Best Bars, anyone?) and five-star location, it remains totally approachable. You won’t feel out of place, whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur or just looking to try something new. The vibe is unpretentious, and the drinks? Innovative without being intimidating.

Argo’s new Combinations menu is a creative playground for your taste buds, featuring familiar ingredients like pineapple, grapes, and even wood (yes, wood!). The drinks are designed to showcase the versatility of each ingredient, whether it's a pineapple used in four different ways or kumquat that’s both fresh and salted.

If you're like me and love to challenge your palate, Argo's new creations will have you rethinking everything you thought you knew about flavour. Go on, you might just fall in love with cognac... or corn!
