Did you know that today was Epiphany? Originally a religious celebration, this day (the first Sunday of the new year) is now also known by French people as a day where they can feast on “Galette des Rois” (Kings’ Cake). French people … never the last when it comes to stuffing themselves with great food. Us French actually love our Galette so much that we’ve decided to make it a month-long celebration, now treating ourselves to this little yummy thing throughout the entire month of January. But think about it: a buttery puff pastry filled with almond cream … is there anything not to like about Galette des Rois? This year, why don’t you join the feast?

Two Michelin-starred restaurant is marking the end of the festive season introducing chef Maxime Gilbert’s and pastry chef Cyrus Yan’s childhood-memories-inspired interpretation of Galette des Rois: flaky and decadent, the puff pastry filled with almond cream is also flavoured with rum and orange blossom essence.
Hong Kong Madame loves: the perfectly flaky and buttery outside and the creamy, comforting almond cream which feels not too heavy thanks to the fresh twist brought by the orange blossom essence. Oh and they have a version for two available meaning you don't have to throw a Galette party just to give yourself an excuse to eat this yummy treat, you can also just share it with you love (or eat it all by yourself ... #oupsie)

Maison Eric Kayser
Maison Eric Kayser’s Galette tastes just like the one just like the one I would have at home as a child. The almond cream is soft and creamy and has this very French taste of butter, almond powder, fresh eggs, vanilla and just a touch of rhum. The puff pastry is no less buttery yet feels very light. Reheat it in the oven for a few minutes, it will taste as butterly divine as it smells!
Hong Kong Madame loves: the creamy yummy almond filling ... so good we wish it comes in a jar so that we could eat it with a spoon
