Le Bistro Winebeast relocates to a new home in Wanchai

Answer to the question “what’s your fav French restaurant in town?” (and God knows I have been asked this one a lot) has been the same over the past few years: Le Bistro Winebeast. It’s not a Michelin-star restaurant but who can afford dining in Michelin-star only? Not me! So when it comes to value for money, Le Bistro Winebeast definitely is winner. And I know I am not the only one to think so.

I also know a few people have freaked out over the summer, finding the doors closed at 141 Thomson Road and thinking that Le Bistro Winebeast had gone forever. But hey, relax guys, they were just moving to a new location and have recently re-opened just a few minutes away from their previous emplacement.

If there was one thing I wasn’t entirely fan about before, it was the atmosphere of the place. I love the new bistro way more: more modern, cosier and on street level. Was definitely a good move.

Something which luckily hasn’t change is the delicious cuisine of Chef Johan Ducroquet. I can fairly say that I have tried pretty much all his signature dishes, not to mention the seasonal dishes changing quite regularly, and have never ever been disappointed. Actually, have no fear to say that my fav dish in all Hong Kong is Chef Johan’s Pithiviers of Quail and Foie Gras (HKD 368) – the most pornfood ever French puff pastry stuffed with foie gras, duck, cabbage and mushroom duxelles.

I love this dish so very much that I find it hard ordering something else when dining there but the Griddle-Grilled Hokkaido Scallop (HKD 268) served with butternut and bacon purée and parmesan cheese emulsion also never disappoint. I also love the Seared red tuna with pan-fried foie gras (HKD 288) and have a partner who is addicted to the Rossini Angus Beef Fillet (HKD 368).

Another perks of dining at Le Bistro Winebeast is the lovely and affordable wine selection crafted by Cristina, Resident Sommelier and wife of Johan.

Well, Le Bistro Winebeast I loved you already in your previous location, I just love you even more in this new one!
