It is probably because I’m getting older (as much as I hate to admit it) but today when someone tells me “Lan Kwai Fong tonight?” am like “Yeah, no thanks, too noisy and crowdy for me”. The only reason I would possibly go to Lan Kwai Fong on a weekend night is for a burger at Beef & Liberty because they are just damn too good!
But the invitation at Ignis by Linx was intriguing enough to have me want to brave the LKF crowd on a pre-long weekend night and give a go to a hybrid venue marrying European contemporary dining with clubbing on 1stand 2nd floor of the California Tower.

As you can see, the place isn’t exactly your typical LKF joint and I could pretty much see myself hitting this dancefloor after a few cocktails. Speaking of cocktail, they do serve a hell of a Bloody Mary. Loved this one so much that I actually didn’t try any other but looked like my companions of the night where pretty much enjoying their classic libations with modern twist.
Hong Kong Madame loves: the playlist! From Prince to Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, I was here for dinner and not party but actually wanted to sing and dance.
What about the food? What does European contemporary dining tastes like?

To be fairly honest there were some hits and misses in the dishes prepared by Executive Chef Mark Sin. I would have easily had another portion of that decadent Lobster Bisque (HKD 78) featuring a Lobster Wonton, the perfect mise-en-bouche, and loved the Galician Octopus (HKD 268) with kimchi mayonnaise but found the Mint-Crusted Lamb (HKD 348) to be rather disappointing and lacking a punchy touch (I felt like adding tabasco to it)
I am usually more of a savoury person than a sweet tooth but was very pleasantly surprised by Pastry Chef Gary Wong delectable desserts.

No surprise knowing that he was previously working at Mercato which I loved (please Gary, bring back the cinnamon buns!). My absolute fav? The Chocolate Soufflé Tart (HKD 88) with roasted sesame and hazelnut. That thing is bomb! I kind of wished I didn’t’ have to share it. Never mind, I will be back to enjoy my very own chocolate soufflé.
A nice place for dinner with friends followed by classy clubbing.
