Ain’t no other week without a new Afternoon Tea popping-up. And I must confess a very posh addiction to Hotels Afternoon Tea! I like the idea of seating in an elegant place for 2 hours and being treated to tea and mini-bites. But I cannot do it all: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner so really need something exciting to skip lunch and go for Afternoon Tea instead. I do like it when there is a real story behind my little bites, not just an hotel and a brand associating their names but an association which makes sense and works. A nice crush last week on the newly launched Sweet Blossom Afternoon Tea inspired by Cochine Saigon at The Langham.
I did know the name of the brand but was not familiar with its products and must confess it’s a crush. The scents are addictive and really makes you travel. I absolutely loved that I went for Afternoon Tea and ended up eating but also discovering a beautiful brand and the woman behind.
Cochine was launched in 2009 by Kate Crofton-Atkins. Inspired by her moving to Saigon and being blown-away by the overflowing scents of jasmine and frangipani. Scents which are so addictive and so intimately linked to beautiful Saigon that she decided to launch a range of fragrances inspired by the charm and unique feeling of the Saigon’s streets. Having a background in skincare, Kate wanted to go back to her roots and has just launched a beautiful range of four smoothing Hand Creams.
But getting back to eating, so what is this Afternoon tea all about? Savoury treats capturing the essence of Saigon street food (absolutely loved the Mini “Banh Mi” Brioche) and sweet treats inspired by the scents of the four new hand creams:

White Jasmine & Gardenia (my fav, this scent is addictive!): the Vietnamese Cassava, a coconut dacquoise with green jasmine mousse
Frangipani & Neroli: Frangipani Canelé
Tuberose & Wild Fig: the Girl with the Tuberose, a choux pastry filled with wild fig and Sicilian lemon compote
Vietnamese Rose & Delentii: La Rose, a rose-shaped pavlova meringue w/ cherry mousse filling, rose and mascarpone cream
Was I happy to have skipped my lunch for this one? Definitely!
Hong Madame insight: if you are going for the Sweet Blossom Afternoon Tea (which you should) do not forget to join the lucky draw! Or the lucky draws as there will be two rounds of it, on March 29 et May 2. What’s up for winning? A gift box including (but not limited to):
